Ladurée coming Down Under!!!

OMGoodness, stop the press!

Ladurée Chairman, Mr. David Holder, has confirmed that at long last, the iconic French luxury brand is to launch in Australia, with the first Ladurée patisserie to be opened in Sydney in July 2012! As you may all know, I am a HUGE macaron fan (one 'O' only please). More excuse to go visit my sister and nephew methinks...

Thanks to Robyn at EVH for the heads up!

GIVEAWAY: Iconemesis Iphone Cases - Love my Fifi Lapin Teacup case! Shopbop Giveaway Winner announced.

I recently upgraded my iPhone 3G phone to the 4S, and had never bought a cover of my own for either. I had intended to use hubby's 'gym' cover for the 3G 'temporarily', but never replaced it in the few years I had the phone (an ugly silicone almost-fluoro green cover he bought in the brightest colour he could find so it wouldn't get stepped on at the gym, also nicknamed the 'teenage mutant turtle' cover). With the 4S I thought it was time to buy my own (although I used another of hubby's 'hand-me-down' for a couple of months), and had finally decided to get the cute Lanvin cartoon face cover, when iconemesis kindly offered me one of their covers.

Fusing beautiful artworks with mobile phone cases, iconemesis collaborates with some of the industry’s finest artists, including popular artists like Gemma Correll, Johanna Beresford, Pomme Chan and Fifi Lapin to create a range of gorgeous iPhone covers. Made of PBT (I was curious and asked the people at iconemesis), a thermostatic engineering polymer, it is impact resistant, mechanically strong and heat-resistant (i.e. it isn't 'just a pretty face'). I must admit I have dropped my iPhone on more than one occasion, and it has held up beautifully!

The hardest part was choosing which one to get, there were so many to choose from! I am not usually one to have 'cute' things, but somehow I just couldn't go past the Fifi Lapin covers (too gorgeous for words!), and had trouble choosing between the cupcake cover (which I recently found out blogger and model Hanneli owns! Lil' J has a penchant for cupcakes), the teacup cover (for some reason Lil 'J also has a thing for tea...must be all those nursery rhymes...) and the one where Fifi is wearing oversized sunglasses. I asked my sisters and mom to help me choose, and they all chose a different one! Great help they were, haha!. The floral ones below also tempted me when I thought I should be more 'practical', but again, Fifi prevailed, and as you can see, I chose the 'teacup cover', as I liked the grey background with pastel 'polkadots'. Unfortunately my pics don't pick up the beautiful semi-gloss the cover has.

Iconemesis is offering Brigadeiro readers a chance to win a cover of their own! And you can pick from any of their covers (they aren't all pretty and cute like the ones I was tossing between, but have cool & funky ones too).

All you have to do is:

1) Leave a comment below with your email address (you can email me your address separately if you wish to: brigadeirosblog at gmail dot com)

2) Like Iconemesis on Facebook OR follow them on Twitter

3) Follow Brigadeiro (either on Blogger, Facebook , Bloglovin or Twitter)

Peut-être Magazine: The Hyeres Issue (Special Issue 1) - Oh, and Lil' Brigs #2 has arrived!!!

Hi everyone!

Apologies for going MIA, but I promise I have good reason! A few hours after my last post ($100 Shopbop Gift Certificate Giveaway), Lil' Brigs #2 decided to show up one week early, and stole his big sister's (Lil' Brigs #1) birthday! So now they will forever share the same birthday! I got back from the hospital yesterday.

On the same day as Lil' Brigs #2's birth, I received a lovely package from Nathalie, which included our Peut-être Magazine Special Hyeres Issue, which I am most excited about! With exclusive behind-the-scenes pictures and interviews with the incredibledesigners (Lea Peckre, Celine Meteil, Emilie Meldem, Maryam Kordbacheh and more) from the 2011 Festival and director Jean-Pierre Blanc, this issue is more than special.

I will share my favourite pictures from this issue in my next post, but you can flick through its virtual pages here (or below). Last week was the Hyeres Festival 2012,

The Shopbop $100 Gift Certificate Giveaway is still open until next Monday, 14th of May, so don't forget to enter!

Mercedez-Benz Fashion Week Australia Spring/Summer 2012 Day 2: Zimmermann, Michael Lo Sordo & Toni Maticevski

Zimmermann

A touch sporty (bomber jackets included) with a heavy dose of florals that still remained fresh and fun (I am positive I spotted my mom's floral bedspread and curtain print amidst the collection):

Michael Lo Sordo

My favourite pieces for this collection were those with strong prints and colours:

Mercedez-Benz Fashion Week Australia Spring/Summer 2012 Day 1 - Gary Bigeni, Ginger & Smart, Aurelio Costarella, Nicola Finetti and Life With Bird

Gary Bigeni

Needless to say, my favourite at Day 1 of MBFWA, Gary's draping was very subtle this season, but the colours were not, gorgeous cobalts and blues, marigolds, prints and neutrals. All in beautifully simple easy-to-wear shapes. Can you believe the designer himself helped me carry my heavy pram (well, my sister's - I was borrowing hers whilst visiting Sydney)? I felt so bad, especially since he was so lovely and I left the store/sale empty-handed...

Nicola Finetti

I had semi given up on Nicola Finetti (who used to be one of my favourite Australian designers over 10 years ago), but I quite liked the floral prints and draped skirt and blazers:

Life With Bird

The closing dress was my favourite piece, gorgeous draping:
