No longer MIA, still alive and kicking my Chanel espadrille heels...

It has been two weeks since my last blog post, but I promise I have valid reason for my absence, for which I apologize.  Almost two weeks ago I found myself in immense pain (I am no softie, I tell you, and had both Lil' Brigs #1 and #2 sans anaesthetic).  After admission to the Emergency Department I found myself in an ambulance (my first ambulance ride!), and later on the surgery table.  Thankfully everything went well, but I did lose 2L of blood, so I have been mostly confined to bed-rest after I was discharged from the hospital.  I am slowly gaining a bit of strength, and am trying to boost my haemoglobin levels (which went down to 76, whatever that means).

Anyway, even before this all happened, I started panicking at the thought of not having purchased a single Christmas present.  Thankfully, even from the bed one can shop online *whew*

Have you done all your Christmas shopping yet?

Takeaway coffee at the hospital...my first taste of coffee and/or food in almost 2 days, it was great.
Lovely freesias and irises my SIL brought to me at the hospital (which I later brought home)
 Thank goodness for online shopping!
With the help of Lil' Brigs #1 and my mom, we baked some birthday cupcakes for Mr Brigs' bday last weekend
Managed to buy a little something something to brighten my week, from Matches Fashion

Finally tracked down these Chanel mesh espadrilles for myself

Today I ventured out to one of Mr Brigs' Xmas work functions, it was nice being out, but I returned utterly exhausted
Vanilla and orange scented panacotta with blueberry compote - yum!
Felt a little 'Stepford Wife' in this Diane Von Furstenberg dress (I wore it in this post long ago - four years ago!), except I traded the pumps for Isabel Marant Dicker boots to 'dress it down' somewhat...

More stripes? I heart NY via 3.1 Phillip Lim

I usually make my pancakes thin and big, more like crepes than pancakes really.  Over the weekend my mom (who has been staying with us for a few weeks) made some griddle pancakes, which I layered with some sweet and creamy greek yoghurt, cherries and blueberries.  Berry berry yummy!

Silk top: 3.1 Phillip Lim, Sneakers: Nike, Leather pants: Current/Elliott Leather 'The Ankle' Skinny pants (available at Shopbop, here, and here) , Bag: Chanel Boy, Sunglasses: Ray Ban folding Wayfarer

Seafolly Goddess Maillot - Summer is around the corner!

This is the first one-piece swimsuit I have ever bought, and I am so glad I found it.  This swimsuit by Seafolly hides a multitude of sins whilst making me feel like a 50's pinup (not saying I look like one).  Now that the weather is finally warming up (and we invested in solar heating for our pool), I have been reaching this quite a bit the last week.  Hurray! Summer is around the corner!

Swimsuit: Seafolly Goddess Maillot (available at Anthropologie here), Sunglasses: Ray Ban Folding polarized Wayfarer (available here), Blush and brush: Nars Exhibit A and Yachiko brush, Dermalogica Matte Sunblock

Issue 8 of Peut-etre magazine is also around the corner, so watch this space!

So this just happened:

http://rstyle.me/ad/b2tdm4wn

Woo hoo!

The planets have aligned! For ages I have been saving my pennies for this particular pair (black with blush trim, patent, mid-heel, 3 straps), then when at last I 'saved up' enough, it was sold out everywhere in my size. Lo and behold Farfetch restocked my size, and then...FREE SHIPPING at Farfetch (for 24 hours only - be quick)! WOO HOO!

You can start shopping at Farfetch here (free shipping automatically given at checkout).

Haven't bought non-everyday shoes in almost a year (and I've obsessing over these for quite some time)!!!

Now...just have to try to be patient until they arrive at my door step...

Waiting. with. baited. breath.

David Szeto's 'In the Mood for Love' dress - Full Moon celebration

One of my favourite designers, David Szeto, was inspired by one of my favourite movies (for its fashion): 'In the Mood for Love' for his A/W 2008 collection, sharing the same title as the movie.  Needless to say, it is one of my favourite collections of his, and it is from this collection that most of my David Szeto pieces comes from.  In the movie, Maggie Cheung dons more than 20 qipao or cheongsam dresses, figure hugging, and in a plethora of prints and fabrics, they (and Maggie) steal the show.  My favourite David Szeto dress appears to be inspired by one of these dresses, and is brilliantly, beautifully and expertly cut to make it so the wearer can almost fake a Maggie Cheung slender body.  David Szeto is a genius when it comes to draping and cutting the fabric to highlight and flatter the female form...I thought it was the perfect dress to wear to my nephew's 1 month old 'full moon' celebration over the weekend.

I lightened the pic hoping to show the detailing of the dress, but unfortunately I could not do it justice
 Dress worn on the right

You can buy David Szeto online at Shopbop, Barneys and Far Fetch.

My Aurelie Bidermann Love Ring

Remember my recent post about my ordering this ring? Well, ever since it arrived from Moda Operandi I can't help but stare at my finger from time to time...I love how delicate and dainty this ring is! I am now obsessed in finding similarly delicate and dainty rings of this quality (so fine and beautifully crafted). Any recommendations?

I don't know why Blogger keeps making this picture dark, it's actually bright white, but I've tried several times, and this is what ends up happening. Ah well!

Chanel reissue bag, YSL Arty ring (purchased from Net-a-Porter here - sadly sold out now, and wow! wonder who scored it at 50% off!!! I can't seem to find them anymore, perhaps the rumours they were being taken off the shelves were true, boo!) and Aurelie Bidermann Love ring (available here).

Michael Kors 'Watch Hunger Stop' programme and today's OOTD: Sass & Bide 'Jesus is 1 in my Life' tee and red Chloe Susanna's

Through Sincerely Jules' Instagram and blog, I found out about Michael Kors 'Watch Hunger Stop' programme.  Raising awareness of global hunger and gathering people together to wear this #WATCHHHUNGERSTOP t-shirt, Michael Kors has teamed up with the World Food Programme to help feed hungry people around the world. They’ve helped deliver over 1 million meals…

As a child growing up in Brazil, I was well aware of world hunger, and along with my parents and our church, would visit the 'Favelas' (slums) to distribute donated food to the hungry.  I am very grateful to have had that opportunity, and this cause is very close to my heart.

Today, October 16, is World Food Day… try to spread the word about stopping world hunger and poverty.  Make a difference in someones life, we can all come together and raise awareness around the world.

For those of you fortunate to be in NYC, you can get this free t-shirt to help support this global cause at the Michael Kors stores at Rockefeller Center or Soho today.  Instagram yourself in the t-shirt and hashtag it #WatchHungerStop to be featured on one of the multiple digital billboards in Times Square.

If, like me, you are not in NYC, we can contribute by donating to help stop poverty + hunger HERE.

Today's OOTD (before I found out about the 'Watch Hunger Stop' programme): Sass & Bide 'Jesus is 1 in my life' tee (no longer available), Ksubi jeans and Chloe red Susanna boots (available here and in black here and here)
